Mansfield Park - Penguin Clothbound Classics
“Her own thoughts and reflections were habitually her best companions.” Mansfield Park, 1814
And so we learn about the quiet, private Fanny Price our heroine in "Mansfield Park". While all around her are falling in and out of love Fanny remains constant and much put-upon by her newly adopted family and surroundings. Taken from the poverty of her parents' home in Portsmouth, Fanny Price is brought up with her rich cousins at Mansfield Park, acutely aware of her humble rank and with her cousin Edmund as her sole ally. Fanny has to remain true to herself but struggles to cope with the results, often re-examining her own feelings while enduring the cheerful amorality, old-fashioned indifference and priggish disapproval of those around her. This tale involving adultery is not a typical Jane Austen theme, and it throws up quite unexpected results.
With this Penguin Classic Edition of "Mansfield Park" you are owning one of Jane Austen's famous novels presented in a beautiful clothbound cover with foil stamped into the design created by the award-winning Coralie Bickford-Smith.
